where thoughts take root.
This artwork explores the emotional and psychological complexity of mental health through surreal ,symbolic imagery. It reflects how inner turmoil , healing and growth often nonlinear, messy and deeply personal.
at the bottom left the washing machine, a recurring motif in my work- It is my personal metaphor for mind. Just like the washing machine spins, tumbles and churns so does my brain. Especially periods of anxiety or overthinking. It is where thoughts go in tangled and come out even more stirred. By placing symbols subtly in my pieces. I acknowledge the chaos, and noise within, while also showing that parts of the larger process- sometimes cleansing ,sometimes overwhelming.
The tangled roots, fragmented forms and jig saw surfaces reflect how mental health can feel like an internal struggle- confining, heavy and hard to navigate. Yet emerging from this are symbols of growth : landscape , blooming flowers, a rabbit and butterfly symbolising vulnerability and a hand creating with brush, suggesting the transformative power of creativity.
The musical notes and surreal forms reflects how healing often comes from unconventional paths- art, nature, self-expression. Ultimately, this work doesn’t just portray mental illness: it reveals the ongoing journey of managing, understanding and expressing the self through creative process.
