In “ she took root in silence “ a woman is bound to a tree, silenced and hollowed- eyed, caught between a victim and monster. She is the unluckiest protagonist who could not outrun her fate, the survivor transformed into part of the haunted landscape, Vines coil around her as if the forest itself is claiming her, each root a memory, each knot a wound.

The horror lies in her stillness - only the slow erasure of self. She reflects the final girl who did not escape.
The horror here is quiet- there is no weapon, no scream, only the slow suffocation of self. In her stillness, she becomes a virtue of her transformation. Her identity erased by forces she could not control.

Hidden in this piece my metaphor the washing machine.  Its endless spin mirrors the repetitive churn of trauma and fear, the cycles that trap us in horror both real and imagined.

This piece blurs the line between victim and monster, exploring how survival can sometimes mean becoming the very thing we fear.
